Vacancy Short Description : We have an opportunity for an Apprentice Comis Chef to join us and learn all aspects of working within a busy professional kitchen. You will join our family ran, award winning garden centre located in the village of Waresley in Bedfordshire.

 

Qualifications Required : Grade A* - D in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent).
Vacancy Full Description : We have an opportunity for an Apprentice Comis Chef to join us and learn all aspects of working within a busy professional kitchen. You will join our family ran, award winning garden centre located in the village of Waresley in Bedfordshire. We serve seasonal fresh ingredients to creating food/dishes that are continually changing.

Duties will include:

- Preparing dishes such as homemade scones, homemade soups, homemade salads and sandwiches.
- To work on dishwasher working within a team.
- Moving to hot food with time and support.
- Ensuring cleaning is up to date to maintain a 5 star rating.
- Clean as you go process, ensuring temperatures are achieved for safe food for customers.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 40 hours per week; 8am to 4pm - you will work 5 out of 7 days on a rota.
Salary : £212.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, hard work, reliable, able to communicate and willing to learn.
Skills Required : You must be a hard worker, have a keen interest in food, be able to communicate, able to work under pressure, able to work within a team and reliable.
Future Prospects : Promotion to commis chef or/further with right attitude and ability.
Training to be Provided : You will be working towards your NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery and Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Professional) as well as Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Functional skills in English and Maths.
Other Information : Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process.
Things to consider : You will be expected to work alternate weekends with one day off during the week. Flexibility to work longer with seasonal increase in trade -at times such as Christmas and during Spring. Occasional late night opening.
