Vacancy Short Description : As an Apprentice Stockperson you will be involved in all aspects of our farm business, to include daily routines within the pig enterprise, sheep and cattle work as well as lambing.

 

Qualifications Required : Candidates must hold A*-D in GCSE Maths and English or a level 2 equivalent.

You must also be prepared to do tractor driving test ( training will be given) and any other courses deemed appropriate
Vacancy Full Description : As an Apprentice Stockperson you will be involved in all aspects of our farm business, to include daily routines within the pig enterprise, sheep and cattle work as well as lambing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in the agricultural sector with a particular interest in working on a farm and gaining knowledge and experience first hand.

Some of your daily duties will include:

Routine feeding and cleaning out of pigs, and any other stock tasks as they become due.
Care of sheep when housed at lambing, helping to move them to fresh pasture when necessary and other routine stock tasks
Help with moving cows and calves
Carrying out arable operations as required
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 40hrs pw Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
Salary : £140.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : We are looking for someone who is reliable, with good time keeping and very conscientious with a caring attitude to farm livestock.
Skills Required : To be considered for this role the ideal candidate will:

Have the ability to work long hours
Have a passion for working outdoors in all weathers
A genuine interest in farming and livestock
The ability to get to work for very early starts particularly during lambing season
Be happy to 'Muck in' and 'Get their hands dirty'
Future Prospects : Following successful completion of the apprenticeship there is an opportunity for a permanent position within an expanding business that has a world wide customer base
Training to be Provided : NPTC LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN WORK-BASED AGRICULTURE (QCF)
CG LEVEL 1 FUNCTIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATION IN ENGLISH
CG LEVEL 1 FUNCTIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATION IN MATHEMATICS
Other Information : Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process.
Things to consider : This is an outdoor position, animals have to be cared for whatever the weather so candidates must be prepared to work in all weather conditions
