Qualifications Required : 5 GCSE including Maths & English grade C or above (or equivalent)
Vacancy Full Description : Quest Engineering is looking to offer a number of mechanical engineering apprenticeships. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to engage in a wide selection of processes as the company is a leading supplier of precision-machined components.

This is aCNC Machinist apprenticeship in both horizontal & vertical milling including multi-axis turning /milling. The apprentice will be mentored /coached by a skilled setter /engineer and the apprentice’s welfare taken care of by both the cell leader and production supervisor on a day-to-day basis.

As an operator of these machines you will be expected to do the following general skills.

Completing documentation,
Completing IMS sheets,
Non-conformance system
Basic auditing skills
Using documentation repository
Using MRP /SFDC
The Quality Path
Gated inspection
Understanding of ISO-2768-1 general tolerancing (linear /angular)
Understanding of ISO-2768-2 geometrical tolerancing
Using CMMs, height gauges, shadowgraphs, contraces, & surface testers,
Using micrometers, bore micrometers, depth micrometers, digital verniers, & clocks.
Using flatness testing, gauging methods, & thread gauges
Calibration
Company Metrics - understanding of Company /cell metrics, & individual performance measures
Understanding of machine capability & SPC
Problem solving techniques
5S principles - understanding
Constraints Theory
Lean principles - understanding
Set up process
Number of Positions Available : 2
Working Week : 40 hours per week Mon - Thurs 7am - 4.30pm and Fri 7am - 11am
Salary : £220.00 Per Week

CG LEVEL 2 FUNCTIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATION IN ENGLISH

Other Information : Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process
Things to consider : Precision engineering requires exacting standards in terms of the quality of work carried out, thus our apprentices are expected to achieve the highest standards attainable each and every day.
In addition the successful candidates will need to be able to commit to starting work at 7am
