Vacancy Short Description : GKN Aerospace Luton are recruiting a manufacturing engineer apprentice to join a high performing team providing support to the Wings & Rotors Focused Factory, including the 787 Dreamliner Wing Ice Protection System.
Qualifications Required : Applicants must have at least 5 GCSE grades A-C to include English, Maths and Science and / or completion of relevant national diplomas. Or A levels or equivalent Level 3 Engineering qualifications.
Vacancy Full Description : GKN Aerospace Luton are recruiting a manufacturing engineer apprentice to join a high performing team providing support to the Wings & Rotors Focussed Factory, including the 787 Dreamliner Wing Ice Protection System. The role will include being part of a challenging apprenticeship scheme with formal education on day release to college as well as significant on the job training within a current manufacturing engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn in a real world environment and gain a high level of responsibility and technical understanding early in your career.
The main responsibilities are:
As an apprentice you will be training in manufacturing engineering skills, these include:
Contributing to practical problem solving activities using lean tools, particularly in relation to scrap and rework cost reduction.
Contributing to process improvement activities, with a vision of creating world class, 6-sigma manufacturing processes through elimination of waste and process variation.
Material Review Board support for the disposition of non-conformant composite products with an encapsulated heater element formed of a sprayed metallic coating.
Maintaining engineering compliance through management of process specification, change requests and internal production permits.
Comply with the Company’s Health and Safety legislation and policies

Salary : £259.60 Per Week
