Vacancy Full Description : We are a mixed farm providing excellent practical experience in all aspects of crop production and opportunities to be involved with the beef herd management and daily routine. We are currently looking for an Agriculture Apprentice to join our team.
The candidate will undertake training and practical work in all aspects of arable crop production. This will include cultivation work, assisting with the preparation and maintenance of machinery and crop storage areas and other daily routine farm work. Depending on qualifications, the candidate may also undertake work on tele-handlers.
Work relating to the beef herd will include daily feeding and health checks, fencing duties and assisting with sorting / herding of cattle.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 40hrs pw Mon-Fri 8am-5pm some weekends may have to be worked
Salary : £140.00 Per Week

Skills Required : Due to the nature of the role you must have a Full, Clean driving licence and tractor driving experience

Training to be Provided : You will gain the following qualifications:
Work-based Agriculture City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
Functional Skills in English and Maths
You will also have the opportunity to take additional qualifications in First Aid (one day course) plus one other occupational test (for example, safe use of pesticides, tractor driving or forklift truck).

Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process.
Things to consider : Minimum wage will reflect age of the candidate. Hours may be extended depending on season, work to be undertaken and skills. Some weekend and evening work will be expected of the candidate.
The work is based outdoors and includes working in all weathers. Physical effort will be required for a number of the tasks the candidate will be asked to undertake.
