Vacancy Short Description : This is an excellent opportunity for two potential Apprentices who would like to pursue a career in Horticulture. You must be able to carry out physical work and happy to work outside in all weathers.
Qualifications Required : To be considered for the role you must have A*-D GCSE Maths and English or grades 3-9
Vacancy Full Description : The position will include working within our established team to provide assistance in all of our operations which include grounds maintenance and landscaping in the Bedford area for our residential and commercial clients.
Your general day to day duties will include:
• Weeding, grass and edge cutting
• Shrub and flower bed maintenance
• Digging and preparing the ground
• Mixing concrete
• Laying paving slabs
• Operating grounds maintenance machinery such as lawn mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers under supervision and after appropriate training
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 40hrs pw Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
Salary : £200.00 Per Week

Skills Required : An interest in gardening or landscaping would be beneficial - all training will be provided to the successful applicants
Future Prospects : Following successful completion of the apprenticeship programme we hope that you will be able to take responsibility for the role of Supervisor in the future
Training to be Provided : You will be working towards your Work-Based Horticulture NPTC Level 2 Diploma as well as the following:
Emergency First Aid at Work Level 2 Award
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills
Functional Skills in English and Maths.
You will also have the opportunity to take additional qualifications including the Pesticide Application and Chainsaw Maintenance NPTC Level 1 Awards for an additional fee.
Other Information : Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process
PLEASE NOTE; You must be able to make your own way to the work place in the mornings, please check how you will plan to do this before applying.
If you would like to be considered for this post you must be available to start work in April and therefore have completed your GCSE exams.
