Vacancy Short Description : Horticultural Apprentice on a working school farm. Working alongside the farm manager to maintain the established horticultural areas on the farm.

 

Qualifications Required : You will need a minimum of two GCSEs at grades A*-D, 9 - 3 , ideally including English and maths or a Level 1 equivalent.

To produce and advertise seasonal plants for sale. To make the most of the new horticultural facilities on the farm and promote the use of these within the department and the school. To assist with the bespoke students and ensure the smooth running of these sessions by providing small and relevant tasks. To encourage the link between the school and the community with the use of the current facilities available. To attend college one day per week to study horticulture level2.

Working Week : 38hrs pw Mon - Fri 8.30am - 4.30pm
Salary : £148.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Potential candidates must be hard working and willing to learn. Due to the nature of the job a polite and kind nature is essential at all times. Ability to interact with others and promote the work they doing.
Skills Required : Basic horticultural skills and knowledge of tools used within the trade such as use of hand tools and lawn mowers.
Future Prospects : To successfully complete a level 2 qualification in horticulture. To increase the use of the horticultural facilities at Redborne school farm. To establish a good working relationship between the farm and the bespoke students at Redborne school.
Training to be Provided : To successfully complete a level 2 qualification in horticulture. To increase the use of the horticultural facilities at Redborne school farm. To establish a good working relationship between the farm and the bespoke students at Redborne school.
Other Information : As a Working farm there may be times when you will be asked to assist in group tasks that may not be related to horticulture. Possibility of working weekends or attending open evening. This will only be on the odd occasion to promote the subject to the public and potential new students to the school.
