Vacancy Short Description : We are looking for an apprentice stock person to fill this exciting new vacancy based in a beautiful, rural location.

 

Qualifications Required : Full driving licence - Desired but not essential

You will need a minimum of three GCSEs at grades A*-D or 4 -9, including English and maths or Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths.
Vacancy Full Description : We are looking for an apprentice stock person to fill this exciting new vacancy based in a beautiful, rural location.

You will be working with our stockman Nick Kiddy, a former Bedfordshire Young Farmers chairman, who has great experience working with livestock and training young people in agriculture.

Your Key responsibilities will include

Helping the stockman with day to day management and care of livestock which will include feeding, mucking out and bedding up.
General care of livestock
Visiting grazing sites across Hertfordshire to check livestock
Grassland management, including rolling and harrowing as required
You will be required to attend college one day a week at Bedford College (Shuttleworth Campus) where you will achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

Core Skills required for this role

Full driving licence
Some experience of cattle and sheep
A good attitude to work
Good health and safety awareness
Good communication skills, positivity and an enthusiasm to learn
You will be required to work at locations throughout Hertfordshire

Personal Qualities

Enthusiastic, flexible, punctual and an interest in working in the industry
Good level of fitness and a team player
Able to present yourself confidently and represent Maydencroft Limited in a positive way

Finishing an average of 40 animals per year

60 acres owned, all within Higher Level Stewardship

300 acres of conservation grazing sites throughout Hertfordshire on behalf of a wide variety of local authorities, conservation groups and commercial institutions that use our unique conservation grazing service.

Working Week : 40hrs pw Mon-Fri Some Evenings.Weekends
Salary : £165.00 Per Week
