Qualifications Required : 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) A*-D 9 - 3 including English and Maths, or Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths.

Although no previous livestock experience is required, you need to be genuinely interested in working with animals, with a desire to learn and achieve a career in farming.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, reliable, hardworking, keen to learn and able to work as part of an established team; in return the role offers training and a recognised qualification within a well-established company with opportunity to progress.
We will require you to come in for a weeks trail as part of the final interview process.
Some of your duties will include:
Moving and handling pigs
Inspecting and assessing the health and well-being of pigs,
Carrying out vaccinations, health treatments and elective husbandry procedures
Humane destruction of pigs,
Maintaining records of inspections and assessments of pigs.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 39 hrs pwk, Mon- Thurs 6am - 3pm, and Friday 6am - 2pm
Salary : £144.30 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Must be self-motivated, reliable and willing to listen and learn.
Must have a Full UK Driving Licence with own transport as you will be required to travel to various rural Bedfordia sites across Bedfordshire as part of your role.
Skills Required : Must have a genuine interest in working with pigs with a desire to learn and pursue a career in practical livestock farming.
Previous experience with farm livestock would be an advantage.
Future Prospects : For the right person, long term employment may be offered, possible progression onto the advanced apprenticeship and pig industry training through PIPR and stockperson development.
Training to be Provided : Work-Based Agriculture NPTC Level 2 Diploma
Emergency First Aid at Work Level 2 Award

You will also have the opportunity to take additional qualifications including the Pesticide Application and Forklift Operations NPTC Level 1 Awards for a small additional fee.
Other Information : Required to attend Shuttleworth College on a day release basis working as part of your apprenticeship. There will be weekend work available once enough experience has been gained.
Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Apprenticeship Recruitment Team and complete an online Maths and English test which will be sent out prior to your initial interview if you meet the entry criteria. Please note this is part of the recruitment process and must be completed in order for your application to be progressed to the next stage.
Things to consider : You will be required to attend Shuttleworth College on a day release basis work towards an apprenticeship.
You will start at 6am on a week days and will be required to work a weekend rota once enough experience gained.
