Vacancy Short Description : We require a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic apprentice to train to become a fully qualified Tree Surgeon with this well-respected local company.
Qualifications Required : GSCE Maths and English A/7 - D/3 grade
Vacancy Full Description : Initially, you will be required to obtain certificates in first aid, manual handling, electrical awareness and safe operation of a woodchipper. You will then be required to pass the individual competencies of each of the Electrical Networks we work on. Once this has been completed you will be able to go on site on our major contracts. While undertaking this you will be able to assist on small domestic jobs to obtain a grounding in what the work involves.

Working Week : Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Salary : £148.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Enthusiasm, honesty, trustworthiness, awareness of your surroundings and the ability to learn.
Skills Required : All candidates must have common sense, who is very reliable. Must be able to climb. Any agricultural, forestry or tree surgery experience would be advantageous.
Future Prospects : Our company believes if you are good enough then you are old enough so progression to being a team leader within 3 years is not unrealistic
Training to be Provided : •using and maintaining a chainsaw
•felling and processing trees
•climbing trees using a rope and harness, and using elevated platforms
•recognising different types of trees and shrubs
•identifying and managing pests, diseases and tree defects
•Monitoring and maintaining health and safety
•Carry out vegetation management in proximity to above ground utilities
Other Information : The working day can be long and tiring
Training will be base at Shuttleworth College, Transport is available.
With this position, the main site will be in Wootton, please make sure that you are able to get to the location (Own transport would be advantageous!)
Things to consider : The nature of the work is outdoors and will involve a lot of travelling to and from site with very early starts and occasionally late finishes. There is also paperwork that requires completing If you struggle with mornings then this may not be for you.
