Vacancy Short Description : In the apprenticeship role, you will be providing IT support to staff in a variety of departments. You will be working towards an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship with the aim of being offered a full-time position in the company.

 

Qualifications Required : • GCSE Maths and English at A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent, plus a good range of other GCSE's

• At least one science subject (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or similar)

• Has achieved their first year or completed A Levels at A* - C, including IT, maths or physics
Vacancy Full Description : In the apprenticeship role, you will be providing IT support to staff in a variety of departments. You will be working towards an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship with the aim of being offered a full-time position in the company. This role will also support the company maintaining operational servers, systems and processes on the internet 24/7.

We are looking for somebody with the following skills.
• Good written and spoken English language skills
• Trustworthy and honest
• Located within 30 minutes travelling time of Cranfield (ideal but not necessary)
• Be able to participate in a Duty IT Roster, attending offices out of working hours to deal with an IT Incident (server failure etc).
• Willingness to work occasional weekends/out of hours to undertake maintenance
• A passion for, and previous experience of, learning about IT
• Able to work flexibly outside normal working hours during job/software rollouts, and when a time critical date is approaching etc.
• Always reliable and thorough, sometimes being creative
Desirable skills and experience:
• Some experience working with databases, website or software development (possibly as a project at school or a hobby)
• Capable of receiving a brief, interpreting the request, discussing how you plan to proceed with the work, and complete it
• Consistent and administratively competent - for example record keeping, checking in work, completing time records, test notes
• Willingness to be involved in the practical work (e.g. network cabling, occasionally working on a ladder) and troubleshooting

In this role you will be:

This role will also support the company maintaining operational servers, systems and processes on the internet 24/7. It requires a blend of skill ranging from professional knowledge, working as part of a team, communication and investigatory skills, and being reliable and trustworthy.

Other tasks:
•Be responsible for helping to maintain security of the office, site and equipment and comply with Health & Safety and Fire Regulations
•To achieve agreed business objectives
•Be innovative and constantly seek ways to improve processes and profitability
•Understand and comply with Market Research Society rules, ISO 9001-2008, ISO 20252:2013 and the Data Protection Act 1998

You may also assist in technical support monitoring the serves and databases, as well as working on the company website.

Future Prospects : Full time employment; becoming a network or software engineer.

Other Information : Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team and complete an online Maths and English test which will be sent out prior to your initial interview if you meet the entry criteria. Please note this is part of the recruitment process and must be completed in order for your application to be progressed to the next stage.
